New England really tempers their spade bits and we've found they stay sharper longer than any other brands we've carried. Some guys love these things (...OK, the auger types are a lot more expensive). But, when you're drilling MDF or Particle board, or you don't need to drill a lot of holes, the paddle style (spade) drill bit makes sense.
