These Rough service light bulbs are incandescent 120Vac bulbs used in harsh environments where typical house bulbs couldn't stand the shaking, impact or moisture. They're commonly used in mechanic's trouble-lights or around work sites with lots of vibration or tough weather (think of an oil drilling rig or a fishing boat in the winter off Alaska!).
California and other states are restricting retail stores from selling incandescent bulbs to encourage the use of fluorescents to save energy (only distribution is outlawed, not ownership or use of incandescents!). The problem is fluorescents tend to gray-out colors, while incandescents make spotting things like transmission oil leaks much easier. They also aid the eye's ability to spot walkway obstacles, obstructions and movement more quickly. So, incandescent rough service bulbs are a preferred lighting product around any work site.
We carry Feit and Coleman Cable rough service bulbs because they've proven themselves to be reliable, rugged and reasonably priced.
Feit and Coleman Cable makes two models: their "Rough Service" brand that's intended for mechanic lights or work sites not exposed to extreme moisture or rain. The other rough service bulb we carry is Feit's "Tuff Kote" bulb. This bulb is silicone coated to resist hits and resulting shatters, uses a brass A-19 base to be very tolerant of continuous moisture conditions, and has an extra loop in the filiment supports so its even more tolerant of harsh shaking.
All models of the Feit and Coleman Cable rough service bulb handles 120 to 130 volts AC, use a frosted glass, and have strong tungsten filaments for full spectrum lighting.
